Q&A with Author

In Conversation With James

A little about me!

I was raised in California until the age of 12, when my dad had to relocate to New Hampshire as part his job. It was a heck of a move with a family of 5, four cats, and two vehicles. I studied in NH and later at the University of Maine, covering everything from business marketing to musical performance. Since then I've built a solid career as an author and copywriter so I can work from home. It makes it easier for my family and to help maintain a 200-year-old greek revival in Midcoast Maine.

1993 Ford Aerostar

What was the first car I bought?

My first car was a '90s-era Ford Aerostar. I thought it was amazing because I could fit all my friends into the back. We'd take a road trip every summer around New England and down to the Carolinas for fun.

2007 Audi TT Coupe

What's my dream car?

I'm a dad and husband. My dream car is anything that makes life easier for my family. We live in Midcoast Maine, so a reasonable farm truck that can work in heavy snow and doesn't guzzle gas is a big win. The nice SUVs are left for my wife and mother-in-law. Otherwise, I wouldn't say no to a low-profile Audi TT Coupe or a new Subaru Wilderness Outback with racks and off-road features.

What does car shipping mean to me?

Professional car shipping is all about convenience to me. I'm one of those people who will pay a little extra for customer service, so it's more important to me to get peace of mind than to find a coupon. I've moved so many times across the nation that a little reassurance that my car won't be dinged or damaged goes a long way toward helping me sleep at night.

Which Nexus audience do I connect with the most?

I enjoy writing for parents who need more details, especially families moving to new areas of the country and hybrid workers who need both a daily vehicle and a weekend getaway. I write a lot, but also have a flexible schedule. That means having the ability to shuttle kids to and from school as much as load up the SUV and head to the city for research, a show, or date night. Those are the conversations around car transport that drive my writing, having the car you need with a flexible and demanding schedule.
